Electrical training course
Details:
At JFC we believe in harboring potential in our employees. This is why we encourage our drivers and porters to participate in an electrical training course. This course allows you to become qualified to fit and install appliances, instead of just delivering them.
What do you learn?
- How to install integrated appliances as well as electrical wiring hobs, ovens, and director spurs
How long does the course last?
- 2-4 weeks depending on your ability
What about exams/assessments? - do you need to be good at maths?
- After learning in the classroom for 2 days, there is a written exam that must be passed
- Once the written exam is passed, you will have to complete a practical exam at the end of week 2
- You will then be signed off to go on the road by an auditor
- There is no specific educational requirement for Maths, however, it would help
How do you put this learning into practice?
- You will be in a classroom for 2 days
- After this, you will be on the road with a trainer for 2 weeks, to put theory into practice
Typical duties?
- Delivery and installation of electrical appliances
Why is it better than a driver's job?
- Fewer jobs
- More money (£150 a day)
- No driving, we will provide you with your own porter

Every Thursday we have assessment days at our Potters Bar depot.
Please note, you will have to complete 2 months as a driver at JFC before we can put you forward for the electrics course. This is because we like to assess your ability beforehand.
